Q: What visit opportunities are available this summer and are there restrictions/procedures related to COVID-19?
We are offering a limited number of campus tours, with one family per tour. The tours are held primarily outdoors, and pre-registration is required. Masks must be work throughout the campus visit (and will be provided upon arrival). You can review our July & August Campus Visit page for full details on the procedures and view the video below to get a sense of what to expect.
Q: How should I prepare for my campus visit?
A: To prepare for your visit to Dickinson, you should begin by learning basic information about the college. Our Web site is a good place to start. Here are a few links to help you begin your search:
When you are ready to schedule your visit, call the admissions office at 800-644-1773 or register online.
Q: What should I do during a first visit to campus?
A: During your visit to campus you should focus on understanding the character and personality of Dickinson and how you may potentially fit with the opportunities available. For first-time visitors, we strongly encourage you to:
- register for an open house or special visit program OR
- schedule an information session and tour.
You may consider scheduling an interview if you feel confident that your research has provided you with a sufficient introduction to Dickinson.
If you’d like us to help you determine the type of visit that best fits your needs, please call the admissions office at 800-644-1773.
Q: What am I likely to see and hear on a campus tour?
A: A campus tour is great way for you to interact with our students. Led by a member of our Liberty Cap Society, tours offer an opportunity to capture and understand the energy of Dickinson College through the eyes of students who are living the Dickinson experience. A tour will also better demonstrate the ways in which the physical campus and facilities reflect our useful, engaged approach to teaching as well as our heritage and tradition. Scheduling an information session with your tour will provide a full introduction to Dickinson College.
To schedule your visit, call the admissions office at 800-644-1773 or register online.
Q: What is an interview like and should I have one?
A: Interviewing is a great opportunity to tell us more about you, your interests, and your fit with this school. Interviews can help us assess personal experiences, motivation, maturity and your potential fit with Dickinson. Before you schedule an interview, please note:
- Participating in an interview is not required for admission.
- Notes taken by members of our staff during an interview will be added to your admission file.
To schedule an individual interview, call the admissions office at 800-644-1773.
Q: How should I prepare for an interview?
A: Participating in other visit activities (information session and tour; open house; special visit program) prior to an interview is one of the easiest and best ways to prepare. Our Web site is another useful tool in preparing for your visit.
It is recommended that you bring an unofficial transcript and activities resumé to your meeting. This may not provide the theme for your discussion, but it can be a helpful addition to our evaluation.
You may also want to prepare thoughtful questions you can ask during your visit.
If you have any other questions, please contact the admissions office at 800-644-1773.
Q: May I interview near my home or school?
A: Off-campus interviews are conducted by our staff as well as trained alumni and parent volunteers at interview days throughout the year. As off-campus interview opportunities arise in your area, you'll receive an email invitation. Please feel free to contact us with questions at 800-644-1773.
